Overview

Dr Jiuling Li is a Research Fellow at Australian Centre of Water and Environmental Biotechnology (ACWEB). He received his bachelor degree in automation from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, and his PhD from the University of Queensland in 2021. Dr Li focuses on highly multidisciplinary research of urban water management and automation control, including model predictive control, real-time optimisation, IoT sensor network, and high-performance computing for sewer management, water distribution system management, and wastewater treatment. He demonstrated skills and track record in multidisciplinary technology development supported by fundamental science and applied engineering. Dr Li has proven capability and rich experiences in leading multidisciplinary, cutting-edge research projects, and in establishing and leading university and industry partnerships. He has published >45 fully refereed journal papers on vastly different fields of Environmental Engineering and Computer Engineering. He is a reviewer for more than 40 international journals, and awarded Outstanding Reviewer of Water Environment Research in 2021. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the International Water Association (IWA).

Research Interests

  • Network-wide sewer odour and corrosion management by model predictive control
    Real-time control of H2S production in sewer systems and minimise its effect on sewer corrosion and odour generation through cost-effective use of chemicals
