Overview

I hail from a small town in Bangladesh nestled in the Eastern region of the country. I attained my B.Sc (Hons) and Master’s degrees in Chemistry from the esteemed Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. In 2014, I embarked on my academic journey as a Lecturer within the same department. Subsequently, I secured the prestigious Forrest Research Foundation scholarship & Australian Government RTP Scholarship to pursue my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at The University of Western Australia, commencing in 2018. Under the Supervision of Professor Paul Low, I successfully completed my PhD in 2022. Presently, I am working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland.

Research Interests

  • Copper complexes (catalysts) for atom transfer radical addition (ATRA)
Metal-catalysed radical chemistry approaches via atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) have emerged as an excellent technique to solve long-standing organic synthetic challenges. Research here is focused on Copper catalysed ATRA reaction to develop novel organic compounds via bulk electrosynthesis. The mechanistic pathway and intermediate species involved in the catalytic cycles are also studied using cyclic voltammetry simulations, electron paramagnetic spectroscopy and spectroelectrochemical data.
  • Molecular electronics
The overall goal of research is to design and synthesis of organic and organometallic complexes to study their electronic properties and establish their suitability for use as a molecular wire. The research is primarily concerned with molecular design, synthesis and characterisation using spectroscopic, spectroelectrochemical and computational methods. The projects work closely with collaboration to measure molecular conductance.

Qualifications
