Dr Mansoureh Nickbakht is a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland Centre for Hearing Research (CHEAR). She is a qualitative researcher and her research mainly focuses on improving hearing services. Currently, she is working on a NHMRC-funded project to improve access to the hearing services program for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Australia.
Dr Mansoureh Nickbakht and her team developed a Minimum Data Set to be used in a needs assessment tool to promote family-centred intervention. When the first phase of the study was published, it received international interests, and the Hearing Journal—a leading trade publication in hearing healthcare—introduced the work in their Breaking News. A research group at Northwestern University in the United States also introduced the findings about the needs of families in their Early Intervention Research Group website. Some Australian hearing organisations have also expressed interest in using the developed Minimum Data Set for their clients.
