Overview

Lizette specialises in applying technical knowledge and research outcomes in industrial applications to improve process performance.

Lizette holds a Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree in Control Engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and is a minerals processing engineer with more than 15 years industrial experience that has recently joined the JKMRC. She has extensive experience in processing of both precious group metals (PGM’s) and iron ore.

Significant projects that she has been involved with include commissioning of ultra-fine grinding circuits in both a main stream and regrind application and optimisation of the downstream flotation circuits, commissioning and operation of gravity separation plants for the treatment of low grade iron ore as well as the implementation of metallurgical ore characterisation test programs in both PGM and iron ore processing.

Research Impacts

During her work she collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams in areas ranging from commissioning, process operations, supply chain and mine planning as well as metallurgical technical services. She is passionate about technology transfer and implementing research outcomes in industrial applications and regularly trains and mentors operational personnel.

Lizette has a strong desire to use her industry experience in conducting applied research to address future challenges of the mining and minerals processing industry.
