Pioneering new oxidation catalysis paradigms for organic synthesis (2016–2018)

Abstract:
The societal impact of catalyst promoted chemical reactions can be measured by the 15 Nobel prizes awarded in this field, and the enormous volume of manufactured goods (e.g. plastics, pharmaceuticals) provided to the market place and consumer. The proposed body of research aims to paradigm shift known catalyst behaviour, through sophisticated mechanistic understanding, novel chemical reaction development, and technology transfer to both basic science applications and industrial settings. The multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional approach underpins a holistic program facilitating landmark discoveries, industrial process efficiency gains, and substantial hybrid knowledge training to students en route to the entrepreneurial world.
