Distributed generation evaluation facility and power control (ARC LIEF Administered by Queensland University of Technology) (2008)

Abstract:
Distributed Energy Resource (DER) facility addresses the issues of how to incorporate small generation units into the distribution system. These can be solar panels wind or methane generation or can refer to customers load adjustment. The technical questions concern the quality of supply and the integration of these units such that there is network benefit which helps justify incentives for customers. The research will develop control and protection systems, implement them and validate their operation in a wide range of potential environments. Demonstration of DER solutions will advance the diversity of energy sources and improve greenhouse gas and reliability.
