High performance thermoplastic starch polymer films for controlled barrier and delivery (2012–2015)

Abstract:
This project will create novel high performance green polymers. Specifically we will develop high performance starch polymer films with improved water resistance and barrier properties for smart applications. This project works at the intersection of significant international areas of biobased materials, reduction of plastics waste and development of high performance materials. Expected outcomes are to provide valuable scientific understandings and commercial opportunities for high performance starch-based films in smart packaging and biomedical applications for an Australian-owned small to medium entrprise (SME) company in high performance biobased polymers.
