Overview

Tuan’s research lies at the intersection of Colloid & Interface Science, Polymer, Bio/Geochemistry, and Molecular Simulation and Modelling. Tuan has involved in a wide range of research activities in various disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts of Minerals/Oil/Gas processing, Agriculture, and Materials Development (Polymer Science and Nanotechnology).

Tuan’s current research theme is non-conventional stabilization/solidification technologies for environmental pollution management. Using both experimental and modelling approaches in the fields of Colloid & Interface Science and Bio/Geochemistry, Tuan aims to develop “green” materials and emerging engineering solutions for remediation environmental problems in various disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts, including (but not limited to) Minerals/Oil/Gas processing and Agriculture.

Tuan has secured research funding from ARC, QLD AQIF, ACARP, UQ-ECR, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, and different industry partners. Tuan is currently working toward “green” and sustainable solutions for mineral processing and transforming waste streams from the mining industry, with a specific focus on Aluminum Refineries, Base Metals (Copper/Lead/Zinc), and Coal Tailings.

Tuan’s research has been awarded for:

- Best poster prize “The IUPAC Poster Award at the World Polymer Congress MACRO 2018"

- Top 25 most cited papers published 2012-2016 by the Chemical Engineering Science Journal

- Top Cited Papers for 2011 and 2012 by the Chemical Engineering Science Journal

- Best Journal Papers in Chemical Engineering for 2013 (UQ)

- EUREKA-The Student Science Research Award (Vietnam) 2006
