Continuous Press Forming (2008–2009)

Abstract:
It is aimed to develop, test and commercialise a new Continuous Press Forming (CPF) machine that forms flat metal strip into desired shapes. The revolutionary forming method, recently invented and demonstrated by the research team, will benefit the advanced manufacturing sector. In this project, the team will now collaborate with a world leading local manufacturer to realise the commercialized prototype and then quantify and optimise its performance. Ultimately the device will be used to expand the existing formed product range particularly in the Stainless Steel market of high-end construction, furniture and aurtomative applications.
