Benthic Habitat Mapping of Aitutaki Reef, Cook Islands (2008)

Abstract:
This project will: Produce a base-line benthic habitat map of the Aitutaki reef, Cook Islands, using standard image processing techniques on a combination of high spatial resolution imagery and benthic field data; Builidng the capacity of SOPAC tem members for using standard image processing technique to create benthic habitat maps of coral reef environments; Create a spectral reflectance library characterising the main benthic features of the study site for further use in remote sensing based reef mapping projects.
