Site factors and genotype-site interaction affecting growth of eucalypt hybrids bred for commercial agro-forestry as a salinity management tool. (2007–2010)
- Abstract:
- Commercial tree production systems are a key element of salinity management in Australia s major agricultural regions. Yet integration of forestry into agriculture in these marginal environments has been limited. Research by Saltgrow has made significant progress in breeding eucalypt hybrids for low rainfall and saline environments. The project will improve our understanding of the influence of environment and site factors on growth of eucalypt hybrids when grown under marginal conditions. The ability to compare growth of clones across environments will provide unique insights into the basis of genotype-environment interactions and support the integration of forestry into agricultural production on a commercial scale.,
