Plasma-Catalytist Hybrid Process for Simultaneous Removal of NOx and SOx (2007–2010)

Abstract:
This project aims to develop a non-thermal plasma-catalyst hybrid process for simultaneous removal of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur oxides (SOx) from power station flue gas. This addresses an important issue in air pollution control. The technology will be able to effectively remove NOx and SOx simultaneously without ammonia injection, which current systems require. The new process can be easily retrofitted into existing dust abatement systems, thus will be simple, effective and economical. Specifically, we aim to optimize this new kind of reactor design including the plasma parameters to maximize the SOx and NOx removal and develop a suitable catalyst and scalable synthesis method. '',
