Preparing Aboriginal students in remote communities for life beyond school (ARC Linkage Project administered by Curtin University) (2019–2022)

Abstract:
The project aims to help better prepare young Aboriginal adults as they transition from school of life beyond school, including into the workplace. Its significance is twofold: 1) addressing the current disadvantage of many Aboriginal people in Australia, particularly those living in remote areas; 2) answering the call for research of Aboriginal people by Aboriginal people. The data - voices and lived experiences of past Aboriginal students - will be collected and developed into stories by current Aboriginal vocational and training students. The data will be further interrogated and the emerging findings used to contribute to the literature, inform educational policy and to develop appropriate pedagogy, teaching practices and resources.
