Insights into protein modifications by NMR (2019–2021)

Abstract:
The aim of this project is to understand how the modifications that occur in proteins during cancer processes change their structure and function. I aim to develop novel methodologies at the interface of protein chemistry and structural biology that will generate new knowledge and influence therapeutic design. Applying chemical protein synthesis techniques will enable me to introduce desired modifications and specific sites for structural studies at atomic resolution using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. My contributions in the teaching capacity area will further benefit my career prospects and training of the next generation of scientists at UQ.
