Brain connectome: from synapse, large-scale network to behaviour (2018–2020)

How memory is formed and stored in the neural circuit of the brain has been one of the most intriguing questions in neuroscience. Enhanced synaptic connectivity have been suggested as a mechanism of memory but the system-level circuit dynamics in memory process are not clear. This project aims to investigate how behaviour shapes the large-scale network synchrony by determination of task-specific networks using whole-brain resting- state functional MRI and its relationship with synaptic plasticity. The outcome is anticipated to identify brain networks for tracking and intervening memory process, improve the interpretation of brain imaging, and bridge the knowledge gap between brain connectome and behaviour.
