Optimising illicit dark net marketplace interventions (ARC Linkage Project administered by the University of the Sunshine Coast) (2017–2021)

Abstract:
The buying and selling of identity credentials via dark net forums is a significant and growing wicked problem. The aim of this research is to, based on systems analyses of dark net forums, develop and test a series of interventions designed to disrupt identify theft activities, and design an operational risk framework that will aid law enforcement agencies and organisations in implementing timely and appropriate interventions in cyber space. The benefit of this research will be an increased understanding of the dark net and improved ways of disrupting identity theft and trading. The project brings together researchers, practitioners, theories and methods from human factors, sociotechnical systems, criminology, and cyber security.
