Optimising illicit dark net marketplace interventions (ARC Linkage Project administered by the University of the Sunshine Coast) (2017–2021)
Abstract:
The buying and selling of identity credentials via dark net forums is a significant and growing wicked problem. The
aim of this research is to, based on systems analyses of dark net forums, develop and test a series of
interventions designed to disrupt identify theft activities, and design an operational risk framework that will aid law
enforcement agencies and organisations in implementing timely and appropriate interventions in cyber space. The
benefit of this research will be an increased understanding of the dark net and improved ways of disrupting
identity theft and trading. The project brings together researchers, practitioners, theories and methods from
human factors, sociotechnical systems, criminology, and cyber security.
