A Nano-platform for Affordable and Ultra-sensitive Bio-marker Detection (2018–2022)

Abstract:
Lateral flow assays (LFA) are used for the rapid detection of biomarkers, however their sensitivity is relatively low. This project aims to develop a next-generation nano-platform and LFA device for ultra-sensitive detection of biomarkers. Innovative porous silica nanoparticles with uniform particle size and controllable structures will be prepared. Controlling the pore size, pore structure, internal surface functionality and density will enable higher loading of quantum dots and enhanced detection sensitivity. The outer surface modification will minimise non-specific binding and increase stability. The high value-add product will increase the competitiveness of the Parter Organisation in the rapidly growing diagnostics market.
