Advanced X-ray Facility for Structural Elucidation and Photocrystallography (2017)

Abstract:
This proposal aims to provide a unique advanced photocrystallography X-ray facility. The accurate determination of molecular structure and understanding the interaction of molecules with light is of crucial importance for the design and optimisation of new materials. Normally measurements to elucidate these properties have to be done separately making structure-property correlations difficult. The photocrystallography facility will enable simultaneous in situ measurements of key properties across a broad temperature range, leading to new insights. The understanding these properties will underpin new technologies for many applications including innovative new approaches to nanotechnology, materials science and organic optoelectronics.
