MND Postdoctotral Fellowship - To identify novel genetic loci and pathways associated with ALS through interrogation of multiple integrated genomics data sets (2016)
Abstract:
To date, the most important and fundamental insights into the underlying mechanisms of amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis (ALS) have come from studies of the known mutations. However, in over 85% of
cases, the causative mutation of ALS is not known and there is no effective treatment. Progress
to date has been made using standard discovery techniques but alternative approaches are critically
needed.
