A Novel Light-Weight Membrane Reactor for Converting Natural Gas to Syngas (2016–2019)

Abstract:
Most of Australian natural gas reserves are located in the remote north-west shelf, many of which are small-scale, and thus cannot be economically harnessed using the conventional methods such as the pipeline transportation or gas liquefaction. In this project, novel light-weight membrane reactors will be designed for converting natural gas to syngas, which is an intermediate step of gas-to-liquid plant. By innovatively integrating advanced membrane and catalysis technologies, reactor weight and operational costs will be minimized, thus paving way for turning the remote low value Australian resources into high value products.
