Tailoring of layered double hydroxide nanoparticles for effective delivery of biologically active peptides and cDNAs (2005–2007)

Abstract:
This project aims to develop a new class of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) for effective delivering and controlled release of peptides and DNAs. The strategy for achieving this goal is to understand and tailor the unique properties of LDH nanoparticles. The molecular interactions biomolecule load and release kinetics and transfer through cell membranes will be systematically investigated. The project will possibly lead to the effective treatment of neuronal diseases. The project will also develop new techniques for synthesis of controllable LDH nanoparticles and profound understanding of drug delivery via LDH nanoparticles thus contributing to the general field of nanobiotechnology
