Abstract:
This project aims to investigate the effects of training teachers in specific communication and problem-solving skills on students strategic and metacognitive thinking during cooperative group work. It will provide key information on the role teacher discourse plays in promoting classroom communication and productivity among students. It will lead to specific practical recommendations to schools about how critical communication skills can be taught to students to enhance their problem-solving and learning. It will also include strategies on how to promote positive attitudes to learning and develop socially inclusive behaviours in regular classrooms.
