Development of novel cathodes for next generation solid oxide fuel cells (2013–2015)

Abstract:
Novel core-shell structured cathodes will be developed for next generation solid oxide fuel cells. The electrocatalytic activity of the cathode toward oxygen reduction reaction will be significantly improved in the developed cathode, thus allowing the SOFCs to work at as low as 500oC without degradation of the power generation. The advancement of the cathodes will accelerate the full commercialization of solid oxide fuel cells with great benefits for clean power generation and CO2 emission reduction.
