QualA-D: A Quality Aware Query Engine for Next Generation Data Integration Systems (2011–2013)

Abstract:
This project aims to include quality of data as a first class citizen in query engines for next generation data integration systems. Current approaches for data integration and aggregation e.g through web portals or metasearch do not generally factor in quality dimensions such as data currency, completeness and coverage. However, there is growing evidence that data quality will be fundamental for the engagement of the increasingly diverse user community. By targeting this critical yet under-studied aspect, this project aims to develop a first-of-breed quality aware query system that has the potential to significantly improve the experience and satisfaction of user communities.
