Defend or retreat? Adapting to the impacts of sea level rise as a result of rapid climate change (2011–2015)

Abstract:
This project addresses rapid sea level rise by bringing together an international multi-disciplinary team based at The University of Queensland. This team, which includes two ARC Federation Fellows, as well as leading specialists in planning and maritime law, will draw upon recent Super Science investments as well as geomorphological, urban planning and climate change projections in order to develop natural resource management strategies, forward planning for coastal infrastructure, and the active development of legal frameworks and related policies in order to prepare coastal Australia for the serious challenges of the projected sea level change over the coming decades and century.
