Scale up of direct carbon fuel cells (2011–2014)

Abstract:
This project aims to scale up the direct carbon fuel cells (DCFC) and evaluate the performances of various coals in the scaled-up DCFC, thus laying a solid foundation for the further prototype test. Direct carbon fuel cells are expected to have high conversion efficiency (80-85%) for power generation, and near-pure CO2 emissions directly suitable for sequestration without further clean up. This project addresses an important area in using coals cleanly to meet the World¿s long-term energy and environmental requirements.
