Actin cytoskeleton regulation by E-cadherin and Src. (2009–2011)

Abstract:
Interactions between cells and their neighbouring cells are fundamental determinants of tissue organization in health and disease. Cadherin adhesion molecules regulate the actin cytoskeleton to control tissue patterning. Yet the fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms that allow cadherins to control actin are ill-understood. This project examines how cadherin signals through the protein tyrosine kinase, Src, to control cytoskeletal organization and cell-cell interactions.
